Small Haul from Wal-Green’s – L’oreal’s Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle and Firming Moisturizer, Radiant Smoothing Wet Cleansing Towelettes, H.I.P. Jelly Balm

The moisturizer and wipes Both on sale – the facial care was buy the moisturizer and get the wipes for free and the H.I.P. was Buy One Get One 50% off! I tried the wipes out and they work pretty well. Hopefully I don’t have an allergic reaction to it though! I tend to react to wipes other than Pond’s, Neutrogena or MAC. This STINGS the eyes, so beware. It got my make up off pretty well – check out the before and after. There is a slight smell, but nothing too bad that it makes me NOT want to use this product. It comes with 30 wipes and is about $0.23/wipe. Not too bad, but I still like my usual MAC wipes and the Neutrogena ones as well. I don’t think I’ll repurchase the wipes, but I’ll definitely keep these near the bed for those lazy nights I come stumbling in to bed. ;)

Full face of make up

The wipe after

A clean & refreshed face!

The moisturizer is light, non-oily feeling which is a plus! Most of the products geared towards older women tend to have a bit more moisture put into the product, including glycerin, since more mature skin does not retain moisture as well. This claims to smooth wrinkles and firm skin as it remodels skin from within. Its not like I have hag skin, but I just like doing preventive measures so I haven’t noticed a difference in my skin. I think the area that I’m most worried about is my forehead and my eyes.

I love the HIP Jelly Balm! I am not a fan of products that I have to put my finger in, but once I had this on, it was emollient and had a lil pop of color! Love! Oh and a bonus is that it smells like cotton candy! I saw a review from Vanessa on Nessasarymakeup and kind of just pushed it aside. Then Cat asked me about it and I told her I saw them, but didn’t bother to try because it was a pot gloss. Well, I know she wanted one and was on the hunt for it with no luck so I said I would keep my eye out. Lo and behold at Wal-Green’s they had it stocked and on sale! Buy 1 get 1 50% off. I picked up Plush for me and Savory for Cat. I am thinking of repurchasing in other colors, but I want to compare this to MAC’s Tendertones. I’ll have to check out the Cosmetics Company Store sometime and pick one up.

Juicy, juicy lips!

Garnier Fructis Instant Melting Conditioner Sleek & Shine

I'm always in search for hairproducts high and low end that work well. Especially with my thick & coarse hair! I have been very pleased with products from Regis and the Straight Sexy Hair line. Not to mention Sunsilk products which have been good. I tend to stay away from drugstore haircare since all it does is heavily coat your locks with silicone. No thanks. I want my hair to breathe but Sunsilk has been pretty good!

Here is me with a damn shower cap on and this conditioner in my locks. I was going to leave this on for an hour while I cleaned, but I ended up leaving it on for 2 hours because I was so focused on cleaning! I wasn’t too impressed with this product and was slightly disappointed because I have had some good interactions with other Fructis products. For $5, it’s a deal, but I don’t feel that it left my hair softer than using regular Sexy Straight Hair conditioner. I’ll probably try and use the rest of this product in conjunction with my other conditioner if I feel its not enough.

Peace out and no thanks to repurchasing. I don't think this product worked well. Even after having it on for such a long time!

Emjoi Tweeze Automatic Tweezer System

I like my pits clean and clear, but waxing at the salon can get expensive. Waxing at home is difficult cuz I can never get the right angle and tweezing is so time consuming and sometimes I pinch myself! Yeouch! I saw this for only $19.99 and wanted it! Plus I have a ton of 20% off one item coupons at Bed Bath and Beyond in my car thanks to Dre. Haha! I wanted an epilator, but didn’t want to spend on a pricier one, so why not try this out. Gawd, such an infomercial consumer. Here is what the manufacturer says about the product via the website (http://www.emjoi.com/hair-removal/emjoi-tweeze-epilator-AP9T.html)
The Emjoi Tweeze is the painless tweezer that makes tweezing easy.
It removes the smallest and finest hair with pinpoint precision. The Emjoi Tweeze is battery-operated (2 AAA not included) and removes hair without irritation, like standard tweezers.

* Innovative design solves the problem of single hair tweezing
* Attracts hair like a magnet and removes it without irritation
* Painless
* Lets you tweeze in any direction
* Can be used anywhere on the body (except eyebrows)
* Great for travel
This item is great! It took a bit to get used to the tweezing action, but after awhile, its bearable. Maybe that’s just my tolerance for pain and it may depend on your level. It only took 2 minutes to go from hairy pit to clean pit. LoL! Check out the pics! I don’t have a ton of hair there, so it cleaned up pretty quickly. Thank gawd, no more actual tweezing and attempting to wax my pits, although you may need to clean up a few hairs after. I just said eff it and called it good cuz it got all the hairs that were extremely visible. I did try this on my legs and it worked pretty well, but I’ll stick to waxing. I don’t have a lot of hair on my legs or all over my body for that matter, so this would be good to touch up any spots that were missed during waxing. Pit pictures ahead...you've been warned. :x

Before: Some major growth going on. The guidelines state to make sure the hair is about 1/4" so the hairs can be easily grabbed.

And this is how much it pulled. Nearly all of it! There were a few hairs that were too small that I had to grab with tweezers.

And here we go witha cleaner pit. Sorry for the blurry pic! This was quick and easy and definitely paid for itself already.

Mirror Effect - Lighted mirror!

I have seen a similar mirror like this in an Avon catalog, so I was stoked to find this at Big Lots for only $2!

The package comes with the mirror and 2 sets of batteries. Not bad! Well worth the $2 spent.

When opened, the lights are very bright LEDs. The mirrors are pretty small but are perfect for those touch ups especially in a dark car or in my case in the dark club! LoL! Yes, I whipped this out while on the dance floor to make sure my lipgloss was in place and my lips looked lucious. ;p

On a sad note, I broke the mirror today. I was attempting to fix it because the light wasn't working after I dropped it while out one night. Poo! So not only did the light not work, but I just cracked the mirror during my attempt to fix it. So now I'm out of a mirror and have 7 years of bad luck. Grrrreat! Guess I have to go dig at Big Lots to find another one!

Yellow Sponge Hair Rollers

I love how it says "Magic Sponge Curler" Well its not magic, but they do work really well!

**Side note: I like how the seller doesn't know if I'm male or female. I used to get calls all the time at work where the other party would say, "Could I please speak to Mr. (my name)." Ummm....

**Another side note: And I love how they call the gifts "spong ball" Haha! They do look like tennis balls.

Kinda weird and it hurts if you don't wind it carefully. If you try and do it quickly and you feel that you have to rearrange your hair, it can get painful

And this is after 10 have been placed in my hair. Kinda remind me of lil mini moon pies in my hair.

My hair was partially damp when I put these in. I left them in while doing my make up for about 45 minutes before removing and spraying some hairspray.

It looks very old Hollywood here! The curl relaxed a bit during the night. Because it was hot and humid at the concert. :p

I bought these from eBay from seller chrissie_3c_shop who is out of Taiwan. I paid a total of $7.48 with shipping. I haven't used these since that one night, but I plan on trying these out while letting my hair dry overnight. Since these are sponges without any hard plastic closure, you can easily sleep in these. I'm sure I'll probably lose some while sleeping but the curls can be touched up with a large barrled curling iron.

EOTD - Sunset Eyes

This post is dedicated to my CeCe because 2 years back she had this eye done to her at the MAC counter and I fell in love with it! It was pre-4th of July at Liz and Jeremy’s when my hottie came from gettin her make-up did and I love, love, loved it! Totally reminded me of a sunset with the oranges, pinks and deep purple hues!

What I used (MAC unless otherwise noted):
-UDPP
-Provence Pigment all over
-Gracious Me Shadestick in the crease up to just below the brow bone
-Rich Symbol - coppery shadow in the crease
-Shadowy Lady - deep purple/brown in the outer-v and contour.
-Margin blush
-Too Faced Sun Bunny Bronzer
-Browshader in Charcoal/Soft Maple
-Technakohl eyeliner in Graphblack on top lid and in waterline.
-Rimmel's Glam'eyes Mascara in Extreme Black

I totally forgot that Shadowy Lady was used in the outer-v and contour because I have been eyeing that color everytime I go to the MAC counter! I used the 2nd color, Rich Symbol in my crease and the last color, Shadowy Lady, in my outer-v & contour. I bought this palette from the Nordy's MAC colorstory Patternmaker a few years back.

I have on my Geo's Angel Circle Lenses in Gray

FOTD - Featuring Covergirl's Tropical Fusion Quad

I saw this quad on (g)'s blog awhile back and had to have it! I picked up one for me and one for Miss B in BKK since we have been doing make-up swaps and some of the US drugstore brands are difficult to find in Thailand or they are really expensive. For CG? Really!? o_O I snagged these at Ulta for about $5. Well, I love bright colors for summer or evening and thought this quad would do great for a daytime look.

The colors swatched here are without a base and done dry. They are quite light and have a light powder texture. I was hoping these would have more pigmentation, but they didn't. I do not think I will be purchasing any other CG eyeshadows anytime soon. These do show up well with a primer and base used, which I did do below, but the flash slightly washed them out and they appear more muted than they really were.

Products used:

Face:
Silk Natural's Date Bait Finishing Powder - I hate using foundation when its hot!
Too Faced Sunny Bunny Bronzer
NARS Blush in Deep Throat

Eyes:
Urban Decay's Eyeshadow Primer Potion
MAC Pigment in Provence - all over lid
CG Tropical Fusion Quad - peach color in the crease, teal in outer-v with royal blue layered on top and chartreuse in the inner corner.
MAC Browshader in Maple/Charcoal on the brows
MAC Fluidline in Blacktrack on upper lid
MAC Technakohl in Graphblack on the waterline
L'Oreal Telescopic Clean Definition Mascara x2 coats on upper and lower lashes

Lips:
NYX Lip Spa in Sake

Beauty First - First and last time ever!

I first heard about Beauty First from Vanessa from http://www.vansmakeupride.blogspot.com/ and was curious if there was a location in WA. On the website http://www.beautyfirst.com/, there are 2 locations in WA state - one in Vancouver and the other in Woodinville. The latter location is closest to me and Vancouver, WA is about 4 hours away from where I live. No thanks! Woodinville is about 30 minutes from where I live so I decided to take the trek to check it out and see what selection they had for cosmetics, moreso if they had the Bella il Fiore line that I saw on the website.

Well, I was disappointed with my visit. The actual store itself is pretty small and the only cosmetic line they had was the Urban Essentials line and even that had slim pickings. All of the cosmetics, accessories and brushes from this line were 50% off but even at that much of a deal, I didn't find anything worth buying except this eyeshadow brush. The store was more geared around it's salon and haircare products. I didn't need anything haircare wise so after a couple times around the store, I called it good with the brush.

The brush was regularly $12.95. I thought it was a pretty good deal since I got it for half off. The bristles are taklon and very soft. The handle is 6" in lenght from the end of the brush up to the end of the ferrule. I think I may use this brush for either my MAC Paint Pots or Pigments. The great thing about taklon is that you can wash these pretty often without worrying about shedding and are great for both dry and emollient product.

Overall, I don't think I'll be returning to Beauty Right anytime soon. What a let down! :(

Hello Vista Print Biz Cards!

To use in the meantime until I can commission someone to design a logo for me. I'm not that handy when it comes to design, but I do have an idea in mind!

Welcome!

Hello hello!

So I have decided to start a new blog with a domain! My other beauty posts will remain where they were - www.xanga.com/mizleilei. I'm looking into furthering my knowledge with make up and possibly start freelancing on the side. I'm on a break from work & decided that now is the time to get this going. Do it now to save time for later. I hope to start an online store as well to sell some excess beauty items as well. Stay tuned!
