Ulta Ultimate Pout SPF 15 - Plumberry

Thank goodness for this fall's trend of dark lips! While I do love my shimmery, sheer glosses, I dig having a haute pucker! My Sissy gave me Ulta's Ultimate Pout SPF 15 in Plumberry last year. I was stuck on either the sheer or bright lippies last year. I think I'll switch it up! Reminds me of my infamous highschool lipcolor - Revlon's Colorstay in Sienna. I don't know how many tubes of that I went through.
Described as, "The NEWS - mega moisture lip color infused with plumping collagen spheres.
The RESULT - fuller, smoother, movie star lips in an instant."

Plumberry is a gorgeous burgundy. I like how this has SPF 15 since most lipgloss or lipsticks don't have any SPF. There are 6 shades to choose from & is priced at $10. The lipstick is smooth and has a pleasant taste & scent.

I should have applied this with a lipbrush instead of straight from the tube. Can you say crooked? Hahah!

Johnson & Johnson Baby Oil Gel with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E

I have had some bad reactions to baby oil. I used to slather on baby oil after my shower without having any problems. But, thanks to eczema I've developed over the last few years, I have stayed away from it until last year when I found this in the baby aisle at Targhey.

What the website says:
This convenient, no-mess gel, enriched with aloe vera & vitamin E, helps seal in moisture. It's great to use for baby massage or for anytime you want to soothe and hydrate your baby's skin.

Locks in up to ten times more moisture on wet skin that an ordinary lotion can on dry skin.

Definitely a convenience having this in gel form. I still have to be careful when applying to certain areas, but I love this on my legs! So smooth and soft! This is good to use during the fall and winter. Not so much during the warmer summer months in my opinion as it can feel a bit too heavy.

Once you step out of the shower, don't towel off! Work the gel into the skin with the moisture left from your shower. You don't need a lot of product, so work with a small amount. You can pat the excess water off after. After it has been absorbed, your skin is so soft! 6.5 oz for about $5

Guilt free way to enjoy red velvet!

Please, I am all about indulging in sweet treats, so I would wear this WHILE eating a red velvet cupcake from Trophy Cupcakes! Mmmm...that sounds good right about now!

Last Holiday Philosophy had cute lip shine ornaments for $12. I bought a few of these and used them as gift tags on prezzies. I saved one for myself too! :D You can still find this on Sephora's website - Philosophy Red Velvet Cake Lip Shine.

This really does smell and taste like red velvet. Yum! The gloss is thick

The color is really light on. I wish the color was true straight out of the tube rather be as light as it comes out.

I love how Philosophy's producsts smell true to what they say the scent is. The multi-purpose cleansers are fab and smell delish! I hope there are more lip shine ornaments this holiday season! Maybe a mimosa flavored one? :p

Guess what launched @ midnight?

TWILIGHT BEAUTY!

Looks fab so far and I'm going to have to look into what I really want from both the Luna & Volturi lines. :)

Nonpareil Boutique Haul - NYX, LA Colors swatches

Once again, make up I am literally just sitting on. I may end up selling or giving these palettes away. My parent's went to the Philippines this past spring and I had 2 Ziploc baggies full of make up that I only swatched or were still new to give away to my cousins and Aunties. SMH forreal at this addiction!

I ordered this haul from Nonpareil Boutique back in October! It has been almost a year! Geeze. I will give a brief review of the products and you will see swatches. Whether or not these make it to use in a EOTD or FOTD is a maybe.

LA Colors 5 Color Metallic Eyeshadow Palettes
I had been eyeing these palettes and these were a great deal for $3 each. Of course Ms. B got these too. The texture of these shadows are light, powdery but don't provide much pigment. You need to have a good base or primer and layer the colors in order to achieve the color that you see in the pan. I was hoping these would be similar to NYX eyeshadows which are highly pigmented and pretty true to color after one swipe. My favorites were the 'Tease' and 'Enchanted' palettes while 'Tea Time' and 'Unforgettable' just didn't do much for me. These swatches were done on my hand which was clean and unprimed.

Tea Time

Unforgettable

Enchanted

Tease

LA Colors Creamy Glitter Eyeshadow in Tropical Luau
Creamy eyeshadows don't usually do well on my lids or anyone else that I know. What they are good for though is providing a base for eyeshadow to stick to and make the color pop. I thought I would give this a shot and see how the texture was before investing in any more of these palettes. This was $2 and it came with a brush applicator which I ended up tossing because it was pretty useless to me. I chose Luau to pair up with the Tease palette since they are similar in color. I wasn't impressed with this product and will not be repurchasing. The pans are small and its difficult to get the actual product out. I would suggest scraping off some product with a spatula and using a petri dish or other flat surface to work the product into your brush or applicator. You could even use your fingertips to grab some color and warm up the consistency.

The color is very sheer and these will crease if you don't use a primer. I haven't paired this with Tease yet, so this might be revisited in a EOTD or FOTD.

NYX Lipstick in Clio & Megashine Lipgloss in Gold
I have not tried any of NYX's professional lipsticks and chose Clio to try. The color is light and the texture is a bit different than NYX's Round Lipsticks, which I like as well. This lipstick was more dense in texture, but still had great color. I like NYX's Megashine Lipglosses and had been looking for Gold on another boutique site, but they were always sold out! Well I found it at Nonpareil and am happy with the color payoff.
Clio is a very frosty pink. I don't think I could play this off by itself without thinking early '80s and the make up that my Sissy used to wear. I would have to mix this with either a cream or matte color or even just use this color to highlight the lips on the bow or center of the bottom lip.

I paired the Gold NYX Megashine Lipgloss with my MAC Mahogony lipliner and loved the result!
It looks a bit more orange here, due to the flash, but its a gorgeous red with a golden glaze. Something I would wear during the Holidays.

NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils in Yogurt & Gold
I have tried NYX Jumbo Eyeshadow Pencils, but wanted to add these colors to my collection. The first time I tried these, I was hoping they would be like MAC's Shadesticks, but they weren't. They are more creamy and they do crease so you do need to use a primer. I do like how easy these are to work with. I work the color in to my crease and blend with my fingertip.

Yogurt is a frosty pink and Gold came out looking like 24k gold. Pretty, pretty!

The perfect place to store...

The lime green color caught my eye while walking through the hardware section of Wal-Mart one day. For $7, I could find something to put in here so why not?

The lid has compartments and is separate from the actual container itself.
There is an inner tray that is removable and portable
And there is plenty of storage space below the container. So what do I keep in here?
My nail supplies! :) This is only a small portion of my collection that I've put in here. The top compartments have nail glue and some other implements that aren't often used. The tray holds the implements that I use all the time: orange sticks, cuticle nippers, nail files & blocks. Below is where all the polishes and nail treatments as well as other supplies are stored.

What was meant for tools or crafts works well for beauty items! Sometimes it pays to meander over to sections you wouldn't normally head to.

Smashbox Rapture Lip Gloss Collection

It is my goal to get through all of my new make up that I have been sitting on before I can purchase any new make up. Well, yesterday's post shows an obvious fail since that was a new, recent purchase!

Did anyone else indulge in the Smashbox Rapture Lip Gloss Collection during Holiday '08? See, I told y'all I love lippies! I ordered thsi from Smashbox's website and had quick & free shipping & a freebie!

From the Smashbox website, "Get glam with this party-perfect set of our award-winning, ultra moisturizing lip gloss. The luxurious velour wand perfectly contours lips for a flawless application every time. Includes three best-selling shades and three holiday exclusives. Wear alone or layer together for instant color and stunning shine." This is a $90 retail value set that is only $29! $21.75 on sale on the website!

You get to choose the deluxe sized sample of your choice when you place an order online and I chose their best selling O-Gloss.

These tubes are 0.12 fl oz each and are 4" long. They fit neatly in your pocket or small clutch.

The colors are soft & sheer ranging from nude, peach, pink & tan.

Illume - the lightest of the 6 glosses. Very light and while pretty on its own, I would pair this up with a nude or even brown liner like MAC's Spice or Chesnut.

Ravishing - a light bronze shade. I could pair this up with my MAC Honeymoon lipstick from the Moonbathe collection from Summer '07.

Candid - a coppery pink. Slicked over MAC's Lollipop Loving perhaps? Lollipop never looks right on me on its own, so I'll have to give this a try.

Stunning - a clean, bright fuschia. I think this looks the best on it's own!

Lovely - a shimmery peach. This looks similar to my beloved Love Nectar. Great on it's own as well or I might mix this with Candid.

Radiant - a glistening brown. The darkest shade of the 6, but still very light and wearable. Another on it's own color or I would pair this with a light lining of MAC Mahogony to deepen the brown color.

The award winning O-Gloss! The sample is a generous size - .10 fl oz and fits perfectly in my purse make up bag.

From the website: "Get a shiny pink pout all your own! The first intuitive lip gloss, this innovative formula goes on clear and then reacts with your personal skin chemistry to instantly transform into your own custom shade of pink. O-GLOSS is packed with our exclusive microcirculating Goji Berry-C Complex™ and ginkgo biloba, pomegranate seed antioxidants, revitalizing marine botanicals and moisturizing avocado oil for lustrous shine.
Winner of Allure Magazine Reader's Choice Award for Most Innovative Product, and two-time Best of Sephora Award Nominee for Best Lip Gloss and Best Beauty Innovation."
You can't mess with the ORIGINAL intuitive lipgloss! I have tried another gloss from Too Faced, but got too bright of a magenta! O-Gloss gives you a subtle, pretty, pink pout that isn't too loud. 0.34 fl oz for $22

These glosses are FAB! I would definitely purchase other Smashbox lipglosses! I reviewed Smashbox's Lip Paint in Artiste a few months back and LOVE that gloss as well!

Twilight Venom & Hello 3-0!

Today, I begin a new chapter in life. I welcome my 30's with a new take on my life, respect that I should give and be given and anticipation for what's yet to come. What won't change is my giddiness for make-up, thankfully! My wallet & dwindling funds are not so thankful though, but these small luxuries keep me happy! :)

While picking up a birthday prezzie for my Sissy, I scoped this out at the cash wrap @ Nordy's. I'm a sucker for new products and this was on my make-up lemming list! Especially related to Twilight!

From the DuWop website, "Be transformed. Let the alchemy transcend.

Twilight Venom is not your typical DuWop venom. Instead of a gloss, Twilight Venom is a shimmering crimson lip stain suspended in a venom-laced liquid lip conditioner with a super potent bite (watch out!), and contains argan, avocado, olive oils and vitamin E.

This product should be shaken before use to represent the blending of the human and vampire worlds and applied repeatedly until lips are plumped, revitalized and the desired intensity of color has been reached."
Mmmkay, move over Bella aka KStew, Leilei is ready for her scene.

This really does look like BLOOD. Hahah! The stain doesn't completely mix with the plumper and I found that you have to continually re-cap and shake to achieve a decent stain. I have used DuWop's Lip Venom and this has the same cinnamon scent/taste.

I don't need the plumping effect...seriously. After I took this pic, I got slightly weirded out because it looks like I am applying blood on my lips. As noted earlier, you have to keep mixing the product to get the gloss and stain to mix and get the right amount of color. A bit of work if you have a lot of lip to work with.

You can find Twilight Venom on DuWop's website or at Nordstrom. Stay tuned for the release of the Luna Twilight cosmetic line. I will definitely be picking something up!

I need fangs for this shot. My canines aren't long enough. Grrrr!

A perfectly stained, red pout...ready for smooching. Stains are great to start off as a base. As you layer on liner, lipstick and/or gloss, the stain will remain after all the other layers have been eaten/kissed/licked off. :) Do make sure your pout is smooth and hydrated. I do my lips last during my make up routine, so I slather on balm while I do the rest of my face. Then I blot off the excess and apply the stain then lipstick/gloss.

Oh Edward...you can come visit me anytime and watch me sleep.
